Toilet Training

Toilet training is the one thing that all parents want to get sorted out as quickly as possible – just think, no more nappies to change! However, all children are different and will do things when they are developmentally ready. Most children are ready to be toilet trained around 2-3 years old (some may be earlier and some later), but an important thing to say is not to start toilet training just because other people think you should, you know your child the best, so trust your instincts and start toilet training when you feel your child is ready.

Coughs and colds? Some hints and tips for looking after your little one when they are feeling under the weather

Written by Claire Burgess, Family Consultant.  t’s that time of the year when everyone seems to have a cough or a cold!  The typical time for the common cold to make an appearance is between October and April and during this time of the year it can feel like your child has constantly got a cold. Most children before they start school will average 6-8 colds per year, which works out at around 1 cold per month!  The good news is that once your child starts school their immunity starts to get better which means that their tendency to catch colds will reduce.

The not so ‘Terrible Twos’?

We often assume that our children have adult logic in order to understand the world that they are in. The first and most important thing we need to do is to remember that they are children – they have only been in this world for 18 months/ 2 years and are just trying to make sense of their ever-changing environment.

What are we experiencing on a day to day with our toddlers? The temper tantrum? Demanding certain clothes/colour of cups/toys, positioned in a certain way?
